Press deluge from the Zvents launch

The home town press definitely paid a lot of attention. First, Michael Bazeley of Silicon Beat wrote about Zvents and Upcoming.org.

Then, Matt Marshall called Zvents and Zimbra the two winners of Launchpad, and filed a story in the Mercury News for good measure.

The next day, he followed up with another Merc story about Zvents, Real Travel, and interesting web trends.

Not to be outdone, Ryan Singel of Wired covered Zvents at Launch Pad, and ZDNet filed stories by both Stepen Bryant and Dan Farber.

We got two stories from TechCrunch, both on launch and at LaunchPad, and Peter Caputa weighed in on Zvents from the East Coast.

Stowe Boyd of Corante gave Zvents a shout, and then Fred Wilson rated Zvents top 3 at LaunchPad (I met Fred for the first time at this conference – smart guy!)

Marc Canter nailed our feelings about Upcoming being bought, and Jeff Jarvis covered us both at LifeHacker and BuzzMachine. I also met Jeff for the first time at this conference – few people can talk that fast and still have all the words make lots of sense.

We got a nice mention from Caterina Fake of Flickr / Yahoo for the Zvents blog-embeddable Ajax iframe calendar, and Jeff Clavier actually went ahead and embedded one on his site.

Ian C. Rodgers of Yahoo! (who I also met) gets my vote for single funniest post on Zvents – yes, Ian, it was gentlemanly – Andy Baio is yet another guy I met for the first time, and he seems way cool.

We got some wonderful, in-depth reviews from a few folks:

Wow. Thanks to everyone, and thanks also the the no-doubt many that I’ve missed here. We’re going to work very hard to make Zvents awesome, and meet the high expectations that have been set.
