Zvents powers San Jose Mercury News

We’re a bit over a year into this whole Zvents experience, and I’m very pleased to announce that our first enterprise customer, the San Jose Mercury News, has gone live this morning.

Zvents is powering a complete events solution for the Mercury News, including “What When Where” search boxes on key pages (including the home page!); search results in list and map form; and event detail pages with extensive user-content and personalization features.

The Mercury News has been a great partner for us to work with—based here in Silicon Valley, they deeply understand the future of local media. Zvents is excited to be a big part of that future!

Congratulations to the entire hard-working Zvents team who made this possible, and thanks to the great people at the Mercury News who’ve made it real.

The official press release is here.

Zvents goes mobile with WidSets by Nokia

Zvents goes mobile with WidSets by Nokia

Posted: July 6th, by tyler

Our friends at Nokia Ventures have been working with Zvents these past months on ‘WidSets’ – Nokia’s foray into a mobile service platform.

The Zvents WidSets widget, available immediately at www.widsets.com, is our first experiment in the wireless space and shows off how powerful Zvents will be on your mobile. The Zvents widget is a free downloadable Java app that displays search results for events based on what/when/where entries. You can customize your WidSets widget to show whatever events you are interested in, anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle.

For example, our bus dev director has configured a Zvents widget to show “theater events/this week/within 10 miles of San Francisco” and another for “wine tasting” related events on a Motorola RAZR phone. Of course, it works well on Nokia phones too! Check here to find out if it will work with your phone.

Other Nokia WidSets partners include Technorati, Yelp, and Meetup.

We are really excited to be part of Widsets launch and to partner with Nokia! Give it a spin and let us know what you think.
