Scour LA for Events

We’ve just turned up the dial in Los Angeles, powering events for LA.com and giving users and marketers access to one of most vibrant and exciting cities and online destinations. Scour LA is the first-stop resource on where to go, what to do, what’s new and what’s classic in southern California. Run by MediaNews Group’s California Newspapers Partnership, which also includes Gannett, one of the largest newspaper and broadcasting companies in the U.S., and Stephens Media Group, an industry leader in newspaper publishing and multimedia, LA.com features Zvents’ comprehensive event, movie, venue, and restaurant indexes delivering a highly relevant search experience to users looking for things to do in LA.

Whether playing at Steamers Jazz Club and Cafe or the revered Hollywood Bowl, local bands, singers, agents, managers and promoters can submit events through Scour LA or Zvents and benefit from promotion in both online destinations. Advertisers and marketers targeting southern California can reach this coveted audience with contextually relevant, prominent display ads throughout LA.com’s guide to the arts, nightlife, and culture.

Visit Scour LA to discover what’s playing at the classic Orpheum Theater or find movie premieres at the old movie houses from Hollywood’s golden age or one of the major multi-plexes such as AMC’s Magic Johnson Crenshaw 15. And who could visit LA without keeping an eye out for celebrities?? You might have just such an opportunity to catch a glimpse of Justin Timberlake at his CD release party at Arena Nightclub.

Search local events with Scour LA and Discover Things To Do.

the new boston.com/events

With Independence Day behind us, our thoughts turn from U.S. history and the Revolution to all things American, like Baseball and Fenway Park. And as we thought of the great historical, American cities, we discovered a wealth of culture, art, and events in Beantown, our favorite Walking City.Boston.com, online home to The Boston Globe, a New York Times Company, features an extensive event calendar ranging from tours of the historical USS Constitution and happy hour at the famous pub that inspired ‘Cheers,’ to heritage tours leaving Captain John Minot’s haunted Colonial Inn on Monument Square (ask for room 24).

If the history is not your cup of tea, catch Beyonce or Tim McGraw and Faith Hill at the TD Banknorth Garden, Riverdance at Shubert Theatre, or swing by the intriguing Milk Mustache – Got Milk? Tour visiting Copley Square where Bostonians beat the heat at the wonderful Farmer’s Markets and summer concerts. If you have a chance to spend time in Boston or are lucky enough to live there, there are a thousand fun things to do; visit the new boston.com/events.

Zvents Does Events in Detroit

I couldn’t be more excited than with the announcement of our partnership with The Detroit News; I’m born and raised Michigan and spent a few years in Farmington Hills.

Its tough being so far from your roots. Zvents is in San Mateo, CA so the opportunity to browse through the Detroit News Event Calendar brings back great memories of Cobo Arena and Hockey Town with the Red Wings at Joe Louis. Anita Baker is playing at Music Hall and The Detroit Festival of the Arts starts Friday! Don’t let me forget the world famous Fox Theater which has Thomas & Friends Live to Michael Buble coming up.

Ah to be back in Michigan in the summer…. I hope you’re lucky enough to be there; if so, check out the Detroit News Event Calendar and do me a favor and give a nod to Sparky.

Zvents powers San Jose Mercury News

We’re a bit over a year into this whole Zvents experience, and I’m very pleased to announce that our first enterprise customer, the San Jose Mercury News, has gone live this morning.

Zvents is powering a complete events solution for the Mercury News, including “What When Where” search boxes on key pages (including the home page!); search results in list and map form; and event detail pages with extensive user-content and personalization features.

The Mercury News has been a great partner for us to work with—based here in Silicon Valley, they deeply understand the future of local media. Zvents is excited to be a big part of that future!

Congratulations to the entire hard-working Zvents team who made this possible, and thanks to the great people at the Mercury News who’ve made it real.

The official press release is here.

Zvents powers Palo Alto Daily News

Local Bay Area residents may have noticed a few weeks ago that the Palo Alto Daily News has created a new weekend section, distributed in every Friday issue. Zvents is powering a Web-to-print calendar of Peninsula community events for the Daily News – the first of many media partnerships to come! We’re really pleased with the great design and editing that the PADN has put into the product – grab a copy and check it out tomorrow, or any Friday!

And for all you Peninsula folks who want your events appear in the Palo Alto Daily News… enter them into Zvents and they’ll automatically be submitted to the PADN weekly print queue for review.
